Last Saturday, Erin Caldwell and Brianna Marable (5th grade) competed at the Riverside Speech (Forensics) Meet in Fishers, Indiana. They were among the youngest competing against 7th and 8th graders. Erin recited her Prose piece from a Harry Potter except and received improved scores from the last Speech Meet. Prose Interpretation is the most competitive category. Her scores and critique sheets were impressive despite going against 38 other experienced speakers! Brianna Marable won 8th place out of 18 other speakers for her Original Oratory on Social Media. They also competed in Duo Interpretation with a reading from the play The Orphan Train and did very well! This was St. Jude’s first year competing in speech competition and we hope to encourage more participation and success in the future. We thank their coach Mrs. Schrader for getting our school involved in forensic competition.
