Imagine this – a camp setting on a beautiful lake where young boys and girls from the Diocese of Fort Wayne-South Bend, guided by enthusiastic, interested and kind adults, enjoy nature, engage in fun and meaningful outdoor activities such as archery, swimming, fishing, canoeing, kayaking, crafts, the famous obstacle course, climbing wall, zip line and campfires.  At Catholic Youth Summer Camp, we integrate these activities with daily Mass, Scripture memorization, prayer and journaling, the experience of Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament, and the opportunity to experience the Lord’s love in the Sacrament of Reconciliation. We foster a deeper love for our Blessed Mother Mary and the Rosary.

This is the overnight camping adventure that awaits the children in our diocese if they are going into the fourth, fifth, and sixth grades in the fall of 2021! CYC is embarking on its 10th year.  We have been in existence long enough to experience the joy of previous campers applying to become junior counselors.

Sponsored by St. Jude Parish (SB), Sacred Heart of Jesus Parish near Lakeville, and St. Vincent de Paul Parish in Fort Wayne, the camp will take place at Camp Lutherwald, July 18th – 23rd, 2021. The directors are Dave and Jan Torma, parishioners of St. Jude Parish.

Campers from around the diocese have shared about their experiences at CYC.  The Hefty brothers from Immaculate Conception Church, Auburn reflect on their experiences at CYC:

Isaiah (4th grade), “My favorite memory is seeing the baby turtles on the blue raft in the lake while swimming.  I liked being able to go to Church every day.  It was fun having all the different Priests come and one was really funny.  I think other boys should go because it is a great experience. There aren’t a lot of campers and they know you. The food was very good and everyone will find something they like.”

Matthias (6th grade), “My favorite activity was running the obstacle course, going on the rock climb, swimming, and making friends.  The camp helped me stay connected to God.  I would encourage others to go because they will have a good experience and be outside with friends and grow closer to God.”

The theme of this year’s CYC is Abba, Father! Online brochures are available at  We have openings for boys going into the 4th and 6th grades and girls going into the 6th grade in the Fall.  The cost is $450 per child and additional sibling registration cost is $430.  The registration deadline is this Friday, June 4th.

The St. Jude Rosary Society has taken on the ministry of creating Prayer Blankets. These blankets have been blessed at Mass by Father Delaney and are intended for the sick, homebound, lonely or those in need of any type of healing. These gifts are to be given so that the recipients may gain comfort in knowing they are being prayed for.

If you wish to make a monetary donation to help with the cost of materials, just place an envelope with your donation marked PRAYER BLANKET in the collection basket or drop it off at the Parish office. This is an ongoing ministry, so your generosity is greatly appreciated.

Thank you and God Bless you,
The St. Jude Rosary Society

This weekend, May 22/23 is the Pentecost Collection for the Education of Seminarians. 100% of these funds are used to educate our diocesan seminarians.

From a letter from Bishop Rhoades:

“It is essential, before our young men are ordained, that they receive excellent formation so that they will be good and holy priests. This formation takes place mostly in the seminary. We are able to provide this seminary formation for our future priests because of the generosity of the people of our diocese. Every Pentecost Sunday, we have a special collection for our seminarians’ education. I ask you once again this year to be generous and to make a sacrificial gift for this important need.”
This feast is the “closing out” of the Easter Season and celebrates the overwhelming experience of God pouring out the Spirit upon the Apostles! The color of vestments and decorations is red which symbolizes the intense love and fire of the Holy Spirit!
God bless each and every mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother on this special day!

May you be showered with hugs and kisses, happy children, bouquets of colorful flowers, boxes of chocolates and other delectable sweets, a clean house
and no cooking! Enjoy it all!!
