Trevis Young, our new Director of Music and Liturgy, comes to us from Clemson, SC. He has spent the past five years there as Director of Music for Clemson United Methodist Church as well as accompanist for the Department of Performing Arts at Clemson University. Trevis began studying piano in the first grade and added the study of the organ when he was a sophomore in high school. He has been involved in choral activities for church and school since childhood, and he began serving the church professionally in 2006. His first position was as organist in the Episcopal Church in his hometown of Mason City, Iowa (also the hometown of Meredith Wilson, composer of The Music Man). Since then he has served various denominations: Presbyterian, Lutheran, and Methodist. In 2007, he received his Bachelors of Arts degree in Music from Wartburg College in Waverly, Iowa. In 2010, he completed his Masters of Church Music degree from Erskine Seminary in Due West, SC. Trevis is married and he and his wife, Vanessa, have two boys, Samuel (age 3) and Benjamin (age 7 month).
And speaking of new people, I hope you read the article in last week’s bulletin about our new Director of Faith Formation, Heather DeLucenay.
Welcome to our St. Jude staff, Trevis and Heather!
